- President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev instructed to continue work on diversifying the economy, increasing the range of goods produced, and expanding the geography of exports. Therefore, we prioritize the development of high value-added products and the manufacturing industry. For example, the Atyrau Oil Refinery is already producing about 20 types of products by deep processing of raw materials. "On the basis of oil and gas production, we will intensively develop the high-tech industry of petrochemical industry," said the Ex-Akim of Atyrau region.

First Vice-Minister of Energy of Kazakhstan, Murat Zhurebekov said that such investment projects as construction of a gas processing plant with capacity of 1 billion cubic meters of gas per year, modernization of gas re-injection compressors and others are implemented under the North Caspian project. Murat Zhurebekov, in his speech, emphasized the special importance of petrochemical industry development for the country's economy and the role of Atyrau region in this issue.

–Considering the dynamic growth of the RES share in the global energy balance, carbon neutrality and the forecasted decline in demand for hydrocarbons as fuel, in the future hydrocarbons will be mainly used for the production of petrochemical products. In order to develop petrochemical industry in our country, a special petrochemical zone has been created in the Atyrau region, called the National Industrial Petrochemical Technopark. Considering the prospects for petrochemiсal industry, taking into account the raw materials available for it, including gas from Tengiz and Kashagan field, we did not choose Atyrau region for nothing as a new development point for the industry and national economy as a whole," Murat Zhurebekov noted.

The members of the plenary session agreed that great hopes are expected of this gas processing plant. Investing in associated gas utilization projects will reduce harmful emissions into the atmosphere, thereby benefiting the environment, and allow the country to capitalize on its significant gas reserves.
